Ghost of Yotei - a new story from Sucker Punch studio, which continues the plot and builds on the foundations of Ghost of Tsushima. In it, players will be able to control a new protagonist named Atsu.

Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Manager of Public Relations at Sucker Punch Productions, confirmed in the PlayStation blog that the studio is building on the foundation and pillars of Ghost of Tsushima:

"When we started creating the new Ghost game, we wanted to preserve the core principles laid out in Ghost of Tsushima: playing as a wandering warrior in feudal Japan, providing freedom of exploration at your own pace, and highlighting the beauty of the world."

For several years, the team has been working on a new story.

"We also wanted to continue innovating. To create something fresh yet familiar, we didn't limit ourselves to Jin Sakai's story and the island of Tsushima, but focused on the idea of the Ghost. We at Sucker Punch love origin stories and wanted to explore what a new hero in a ghost mask with a new legend could mean. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story, and a new region of Japan to explore."

Sucker Punch isn't revealing all the cards, but shared the first details.

"While today we won't delve into the plot details, we can say that Atsu's journey takes place in 1603, over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story unfolds in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, rising in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan now known as Hokkaido. In 1603, this territory was beyond Japanese rule and was full of vast grassy plains, snowy tundra, and unexpected dangers. It's far from the organized samurai clans living in Tsushima and the setting of the original story we're eager to tell."

Ghost of Yotei is the first game from Sucker Punch Productions created for PlayStation 5, and the developers will utilize the capabilities of the technology to delight players:

"It's also the first game from Sucker Punch developed from the ground up for PlayStation 5, and we can't wait to expand on the visual foundation of Ghost of Tsushima, making the world even more realistic. Huge viewing angles will allow you to see far into the surrounding space, a completely new sky with twinkling stars and auroras, even more realistic wind movement through grass and vegetation, and a host of other enhancements that we'll talk about in the future. The new environment provides an opportunity to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons."
