The Sims 4 has been moved to DirectX 11 and performance has been improved
The Sims 4 continues to introduce various technologies. Maxis has moved the game to DirectX 11.
Recently, a major update 1.109.185.1030 was released for The Sims 4 life simulator. Maxis focused on improving performance.
The Sims 4 has been fully translated to DirectX 11: 'players with NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards will now automatically default to DX11 executable files. Players with other graphics cards, such as Intel, will continue to run The Sims 4 on DX9 until further notice.' It is expected that DirectX 11 will result in faster graphics processing.
Performance improvement is achieved through constant buffers (cbuffer) - performance is increased by eliminating unnecessary data and more efficient memory management. According to the developers, users with mid-range and high-end graphics cards should notice a significant performance increase. A new DirectX 9 option has appeared in the graphics settings for those who want to revert to the old renderer.
Some other improvements:
- Memory consumption reduction
- Simulation performance improvement: data storage optimization and efficient buffer generation (the game will run faster and consume less memory)
- Reduced loading time
